James Herbert "Herb" DeShazo, 86 of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on April 3, 2024. He was born on November 22, 1937 in Hartford, Alabama to the late James M. DeShazo and the late Edna Meadows DeShazo. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Anne DeShazo and his great grandson, Teddy Covington.
Herb was a vetern of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Pinegrove Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He loved to sing for his Lord; he sang in the church choir for many years. He continued to sing for the Lord even after his stay in Townsend Park Nursing.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Patsy Ann Aynes DeShazo; daughter Sheri Teague (Dwayne Day); grandchildren Brandi R.Teague, Britney C. Covington, and Brooke D. Teague; eight great grandchldren; brother Jim (Mardean) DeShazo; and two nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 6:30 pm in the funeral home's chapel. Burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery at a later date.

Every time I seen Herb, he lit up with pride talking about teaching Sheri to sing in choir etc.. No doubt he was a proud daddy. I wish I had a dad like him. He was a good man.
