James Dortman Obituary

James was born April 24, 1947, in Maywood, IL to the late Henry Dortman and the late Grace Lawrence.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Shields Dortman; daughter, Tamera Poynter of FL; sister, Jane Nelson of Elburn, IL.
James spent nearly 43 dedicated years working at Fruit of The Loom. After retiring, he didn't want to stay away from working and returned this time working 6 more years at MAGNA. He also proudly served in the United Stated Army during the Vietnam Era.
James was a man of simple joys. He enjoyed watching old movies and sitcoms. He loved bowling and had played on a league for years, even scoring a perfect game. Most of all, he enjoyed time with his family.
The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.
Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 1:00pm with burial to follow in the Mt. Union General Baptist Church Cemetery in Allen County, KY.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 10, at 4:00pm until 7:00pm and again on Thursday at 11:00am until time of service at 1:00pm.
