James Doud Obituary
James "Jim" R. Doud, age 84 of Canton, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. He was born in North Hornell, New York on June 28, 1939 to the late Devillo and Mary (Glover) Doud. Jim graduated from Canaseraga Central High School, and then from Alfred University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. After college, he married his hometown sweetheart, Doreen (Dresser) Doud, moved to Ohio and started a family which was filled with love, laughter, beach vacations and camping, card games, putt putt golfing, car shows, fantasy football and more for almost 63 years. He worked as a Ceramic Engineer and retired from Akron Porcelain & Plastics Company. He enjoyed learning about space, working on puzzles, driving his El Camino and really loved his dog, Wheezie.
Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his daughter Tracey Doud Lorenz, and sisters Evelyn McCullough and Jeannette Gelser. He is survived by his wife Doreen (Dresser) Doud; children DeAnn (Rich) Leach, Sondra (Ken) Easterly, and Jamie (George) Macris; grandchildren Richard, Dani, James, KJ (Torian), Krista (Joshua), Victoria (Jonathon), Doreen, and Kori; step granddaughter Jessica; and nine great-grandchildren; sister Pearl Marshall; and son-in-law Chris Lorenz.
Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. A private family memorial service has been held. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Direction Home Akron Canton Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
