James Draves, age 86, a resident of Spooner, died on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Amery Memory Care in Amery, WI.
James was born on January 17, 1939, in Highland, Wisconsin to parents Merle and Mary (Bomkamp) Draves. On August 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Scheidegger, and together they raised six children. James and Bonnie enjoyed playing cards with friends and neighbors. He was an avid woodworker and spent time helping his family with building projects and working on their homes.
James is survived by his son Ron (Alvina Osborne) Draves, daughter Sandy (Dennis) Kelly, daughter Tammy (Tony) Lindau, daughter Theresa (Luke) Robotti, son Dan (Lynn) Draves, daughter in law Lori Draves, many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, brothers Herb and Mike, and sisters Kathy (Dennis) Johnson and Janet Persinger.
James is preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, parents Merle and Mary Draves, son Donald Draves, sister Carolyn Draves, 2 grandsons Baby Boy Draves and Mathew J. Draves, 2 great grandchildren Caitlin E. Hebert and Cecil R. Kelly, brother Jerome Draves, sisters Marilyn (Harold) Neefe, Colleen (Robert) Tanner, brother-in-law Gerald Persinger, sisters in law Virginia Draves and Carolyn Draves.
Funeral services for James Draves will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11am at the Spooner Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Robotti officiating. Visitation and a gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, February 8, from 10-11am. Interment at the Spooner Cemetery will follow.
Casket bearers will be Keith Dahlstrom, Brad Draves, Branden Draves, Jason Kelly, Charlie Robotti, and Ernie Robotti.
