James "Jim" Duff, 76, of Forked River, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023. James was born on July 9,1946 to James and Ellen Duff.
To say that Jim Duff lived a colorful life is an understatement. From his short career in college football, to his passion as a bar owner (Duffys), to his career at Ocean County Jail; it was always safe to say that Jim's favorite & greatest career was the role of a Grandpa or "Poppop" as many knew him as. Jim's family and close friends were his true pride and joys in life. From homemade holiday cards, his humor, crisp $2 bills, pizza/hoagie nights and his annual Christmas Eve celebration- Jim "Poppop" truly made traditions that became foundations in the family.
Jim was the epitome of a proud Irishman that enjoyed a cold beer while being surrounded by his wife, good company and good times. He thoroughly loved the sound of bagpipers, especially at his annual St. Patrick's Day celebration. He would never turn down giving a gag gift to watch you chuckle and he never missed a birthday. Jim was so loving and very selfless, while constantly showing strength throughout life's trials and tribulations.
Jim was welcomed in heaven with open arms by his son Barry Duff and granddaughter, Alana Duff. He is survived by his wife, Melody Duff. His sisters Kathleen Churchwell and Lynn Gallagher, and her husband James Gallagher. His eldest son, James Duff and wife, Anne Duff. His son, Timothy Duff and wife, Jennifer Duff. His daughter Kelly Farina, son Sean Duff and daughter, Casey Duff. His step daughters, Frances Hafner, her husband John Hafner, Tina Fragosia and her husband John Fragosia.
Jim leaves behind his 27 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by his built- in family; Gail & RJ Rojak.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, January 27th, 2023 at Riggs Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00PM. Repass will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at The Lacey Elks from 12:00-5:00PM.
