James R. Dussia

July 2, 1933 – December 8, 2025

James R. Dussia, age 92, of Monroe Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 8, 2025 at the Otterbein Franklin Senior Living Community in Franklin, Indiana.

Born July 2, 1933 in Monroe, James was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Haley) Dussia. James attended and graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Joan (JoAnn) Moldovan and on January 31, 1953, they married. Together they raised five children. Sadly, after 67 years of marriage, Joan (JoAnn) passed.

James was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 and went on to serve his country honorably during the Korean War. After his discharge, James returned to his family and sought employment at Teledyne in Toledo, Ohio. He worked for more than 40 years as an Inspector for aircraft and missile turbine engines before his retirement.

James was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a member of the Moose and Elks Clubs and a member of the American Legion. He was hardworking, kind, and gracious. James loved every opportunity he had to spend time with his family. His love for his family was infinite. When James was not working, you could find him playing horseshoes or camping. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.

To cherish his memory, he leaves three children: Nicholas (Marlene) Dussia, Mark (Tracie) Dussia and Marsha (Dan) Burkett, ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

James is preceded in death by two children, Terry Lynn Fruchey and Dennis Wayne Dussia, grandsons, Matthew Dussia and Brent Fruchey, two brothers, Art and Gene Dussia and a sister, Rosemary Barron.

Friends and family may visit on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Rupp Funeral Home from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm. A service in his honor will take place at 1:00 with Rev. Larry Detruf officiating. James will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe
