James "Jim" Benjamin Echard, 68, of Elgin, died on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Born March 23, 1956, in New Kensington, PA, he was a son of the late John Carroll and Barbara Jean Echard Carroll. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Echard was employed with various manufacturing companies as a warehouse supervisor. He enjoyed all activities that involved being outdoors, especially hiking, camping, biking, and boating. Most recently, Mr. Echard loved spending his spare time gardening. He was a member of Rehoboth Church in Columbia.
Survivors include his wife, Holly J. Echard; children, Hardy Willis Arner of Blythewood and Jennifer Jeanette Haddock (Troy) of Blythewood; grandchildren, Haley O'Donnell, Jordan O'Donnell, Shyann Arner, Alexander O'Donnell, Mitchell Arner, J.T. Haddock, and Jena Haddock; brothers, Ron Carroll, John Carroll, and Daniel Carroll; as well as his brother-in-law, Willis Hardy Arner of Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Guy Carroll and Charles Carroll, and sister-in-law, Mary Jane Conley.
The memorial service for Mr. Echard will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday, September 15th at Rehoboth Church, 6911 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorials may be sent to Rehoboth Church or MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, 86 Jonathan Lucas St, MSC 955 Charleston, SC 29425.
