Hurricane, Utah – James Willard Elkins, 86, passed away at home on October 15, 2025. He was born December 12, 1938, to Charles and Leona Elkins at home in Murray, Utah. He married Barbara Belcher on June 24, 1961, in Sandy, Utah and later sealed in the Manti Temple.

James was raised in Murray, Utah in the home he was born in and graduated from Murray High School. He joined the Utah Army National Guard in 1956 and served 23 years in the service - spending 11 months of active duty at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a Branch President at the Haven Assisted Living Branch in Hurricane, Utah where he was well loved by the residents.

James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: John and Ron; and his son, Richard Elkins. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Elkins; his children: Randy (Suzanne) Elkins of Clearfield, UT, David (Jacquelyn) Elkins of Savannah, GA, and Teresa (Charles) Hawkins of Simpsonville, SC; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with a viewing prior from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at the Hurricane Chapel, 272 South 700 West, Hurricane, Utah. Interment will follow in the Hurricane City Cemetery located at 255 East 600 North.
