James Erickson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium on Jun. 28, 2024.
James "Jim" Lester Erickson, 74, of Beloit, WI, passed away from AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at UW Cancer Carbon Center.
Jim, the son of Les and Virginia (Hansen) Erickson, was born on a cold January 6th day in 1950. He had what he called an idyllic childhood playing in the fields of his grandparent's farm and hunting and fishing with his dad and cousin Phil. He was active in his church as a child and enjoying youth nights and singing in the choir. He was also in Beloit Boys Choir. Jim attended St. Johns, Kenucane, Townview and Powers elementary schools and graduated in the class of 1968 from Turner High School where he enjoyed track, basketball and (not so much) football.
Jim worked at Beloit Box Board for 42 years retiring in 2013. In 1972 he married Cathy Adams with whom he welcomed daughters Becky and Sarah. Jim loved his family above all, but deeply cared about friends and neighbors, his home, animals, fishing and vacations to Rock Lake. He strived to be a good person. Jim enjoyed reading, watching the Packers and Brewers, putzing in his garage and helping friends. He also enjoyed bowling on several bowling leagues and playing cards loving it when his daughters surprised him with Sunday morning euchre.
Jim is survived by his wife; daughter Sarah; granddaughters Jadyn and Sydney; cousins David and Philip Berg, Dawn (Berg) Omark and Ron Amerson; sisters-in-law Carol Lawrence and Julie Irwin; brother-in-law, Bob Adams; close friends Rich Blum, Fran Govert, Jeff Zank and Beloit Box Board breakfast buddies Randy Ramsey, Russ Beyer, Pat Lanphear, Roger Buzzo and Al Gjeston.
Jim was predeceased by his daughter Becky in April; his parents; and sister, Barb.
Memorials in his name may be given to Agrace Hospice or to any veteran's charity.
Per Jim's wishes there will be no services.
