James J. Fleming passed peacefully on January 18th, 2025, at the age of 82 while surrounded by his wife and family. Jim, son of the late Ruth (Schrieber) and James J. Fleming, was a devoted husband of 58 years to Antoinette J. Fleming. He is survived by his loving sister Ruth E. Poli (Pete). He joins his predeceased brother John R. Fleming (Pat) and sister Margaret A. Fleming in rest.
James Joseph Fleming, affectionately known as "Jim/Jimmy," left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. Jim's love for saltwater fishing was legendary-he felt most alive with a fishing rod in hand and the salt air filling his lungs. Teaching his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandson the joy of fishing, as it was one of his greatest pleasures, and those moments on the water will be treasured forever.
Family was everything to Jim. He adored his daughters, Antoinette J. Wilman and Colleen K. Petrasso, and cherished his role as a grandfather to Brittany A. Miller (Brian), Ashley K. Wilman, Gianna N. Petrasso, and Nicholas J. Petrasso. As a great-grandfather, Jim's heart swelled with joy at the sight of Mason D. Zagami and his newly great granddaughter Blake V. Miller. His playful nature and sense of humor brought endless laughter and warmth to family gatherings.
Jim had a wanderer's spirit, often embarking on impromptu road trips down south, reveling in the freedom of the open road and the warmth of the southern sun. Chincoteague, Virginia, was his paradise- a place where he could unwind and reconnect with nature.
Corporal James J. Fleming was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Jim's love for his country was unwavering. He embodies the values of honor, courage, and commitment in all aspects of his life.
Jim's career as an Operating Engineer in local 542 was a source of immense pride. He was a master of heavy machinery, skillfully operating equipment that built the world around him
Jim was the family's jokester, always ready with a quick-witted remark or a playful prank. His laughter was contagious, and his presence lit up every room. Jim's legacy of love, humor, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories of a life well-lived.
Family and friends are invited to Jim's viewing on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 11:00 am – 12:30 PM at Hoffmann Meyers Givnish Funeral Home, 1770 Brown Ave., Bensalem, PA 19020; followed by his prayer service starting at 12:30 PM. His final resting place will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA
