It is with deep sadness and shock upon learning the passing of James Richard! James was born March 9 and I followed later on April 2. Family wise, we are 4th cousins but in reality, we were very close growing up and our bond was more like 1st cousins. At the age of eight years old, we both began taking accordion lessons with the same studio which continued through the years to high school. We had many hours of fun practicing for recitals, contests, and then the roller skating parties. Also, there were all the great family times we shared together as well. While we attended different high schools, we always joked who would be the first to graduate and it turned out I graduated one day before his class. He took my ribbing well. Though our lives went our separate ways, he was always in my thoughts and the wonderful times we shared together! My condolences to Debbie and all the family.

Mr. Fletcher was my Business Law I and II professor at OPSU in 1981 and 1982. My sister was also in the class. I always admire Mr. Fletcher as a Professor and a person. One item that I remembered most is you better come fully prepared for his classes. My deepest condolences on his passing. Chuck Michael Amarillo, TX.

James was my big brother. We had a normal brother-sister relationship, but I don't think he realized how he paved the way for me in school. Teacher attitudes softened toward me when they discovered I was his sister. He had set a standard and they figured I would conform to it, and I did, academically. He was a leader and a good friend to many. He played baseball and basketball and ran track. He was a Boy Scout. Two of my favorite memories are when he convinced Mom to let me choose my own college rather than the one she wanted me to attend, and the time he took me to a Monkees concert for my birthday. That one was quite a sacrifice for him! I love you, Big Brother, and I miss you.

James was more like a big brother to me than a mere friend. I knew him from the second grade at Lombard Elementary school in Tulsa, OK. through nearly all our lives. He called me, not Renee, but, oh how do I pronounce the way he said it. REEnee. Sounding more like 'Weenie'. Which I didn't love. I remember being the only girl at his 6th grade birthday party. I remember him coming up to our house, seems like he rode a horse sometimes. Too many years to remember something small and insignificant as a horse. Anyway, went through school together, and even both went to OSU until I transferred to OU. Life, of course, takes people on different paths. I married. James married. The pic I have included was the two of us getting together for a few good memories at our 50th high school reunion. A few years after that, I called James to help finding a lawyer after my husband passed away. He found me a great guy, and I will always be grateful for that. One funny thing, on the occasions I did call him at his office out there in the Panhandle of OK, his secretary always knew it was 'that old friend of yours' because I still called him 'James', when apparently by then everybody seemed to be calling him 'Jim'. Maybe I was the only one to stick to that name I'd grown up with. "James." As I said, James was so much more a brother to me, I feel the loss as I would any close family member. I'm sorry we lost touch for so many of our 'adult' years. But I will treasure all the years of memories I do have. My thoughts and prayers go out to Deb and the rest of his family and friends. All my best, Renee Roszel Wilson
