James affectionately called "Jimmy" by all who knew him, was a loving husband, and father. He was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife Joan. "Jimmy" was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oakdale where he attended church regularly. He loved to garden and enjoyed raising blueberries. "Jimmy" always put a lot of work into his garden and flower beds, and they were always beautiful. He was a proud veteran and served our country in the United States Army. One of "Jimmy's" favorite past times was painting where he was very talented and could always bring life and beauty to any canvas. He loved and adored his family and cherished every moment he spent with them. "Jimmy" will be unconditionally loved and forever missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish "Jimmy's" memory include his wife, Joan Fontenot of Oakdale, LA; one son, Michael Fontenot and wife Lisa of Oakdale, LA; one stepdaughter, Joanna Carpenter of Mamou, LA; two brothers, Paul Fontenot of Oakdale, LA and Darrell Fontenot of Carliss, LA; and one sister, Joann Welch of Oberlin, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews.
"Jimmy" is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Effie Fontenot; and one sister, Diana Tichy; and one stepson, Jamie Fontenot.
