FORTUNE, James Brett "Cookie" - Age 49, of Owosso formerly of Swartz Creek and Linden, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 PM until time of service. In leiu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the James B. Fortune Memorial Fund. James was born June 7, 1960 in Flint, the son to Reginald R. and Elizabeth J. (Speaks) Fortune. He had resided in Owosso for the past 1 1/2 years, coming from Swartz Creek and Linden. He was a graduate of Linden High School. James worked at Creative Foam, Fenton Auto Parts and Genesee Recycling. James was a volunteer for Genesys Hospice and was an avid Hunter and fisherman. Surviving are: father, Reginald and wife Denise Fortune of Swartz Creek; 5 siblings, Diane Farner of Flint, Mark and wife Lesia Farner of Petosky, Susan Farner of Flint, Erich and wife Cynthia Farner of Florida and Julie and husband Gary Horton of Owosso; several nieces and nephews; Denise's son Michael Buszek and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth J. Fortune.
