James Lee Freeman passed from this life on Thursday, November 27, 2025 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 89.

Funeral service for James Freeman will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK. Interment will be at Laverty Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

James Lee Freeman was born November 22, 1936 to James Oscar and Ozella Freeman. James was born in Dublin, Texas. Later the family moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma where James attended public school. James married Bonita Pearl Burnett April 6th 1957. They had two daughters and three sons.

James was an over the road truck driver for several years. He bought into a Tom's franchise where he sold Tom's vending merchandise (chips, candy, and peanuts) in 1969. He was known as the "Candy man". He retired in 1988. He attended Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member for over 68 years. He served as a Bus Driver and a deacon at Calvary. He was there to do what ever was needed as long as he was able to serve. He coached his children in Little League Baseball which spanned from 1971 – 1984. He sponsored several of the teams through his Tom's vending business. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family, helping out however he could. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ozella Freeman; daughter, Vickie Diane Jackson; brothers, Bill Freeman and Bobby Freeman.

Loved ones left to remember him are his wife, Bonita Freeman; children, Marlisa Garst, James Freeman and wife Lydia, John Freeman and wife Judy, David Freeman and wife Linda; grandchildren, Gary Thomas Jackson, Greg Jackson, Rhiannon Osborn, Shannon Shanahan, James Freeman, Brandon Freeman, Jacob Freeman, Jacey Freeman, Cindy Lewis, Jessie Vasquez, Austin Wilkinson, and Trenton Freeman; many great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
