James (Jim) Gables of Aledo, Texas, passed away on 1/21/2025 in Tupelo, Mississippi on a business trip. He will always be remembered as a loving husband to his wife Robyn of almost 50 years, son to his mother, brother to his siblings, pastor over his church, loving father to his children and grandchildren, a fantastic colleague to the many he worked with and loyal friend to all that knew and loved him. Jim was born on January 16th 1955 to Kermit and Leah Gables. He grew up loving to fish, hunt and share stories of the Bible with his dad Kermit. A passion that he would pursue for the rest of his lifetime. He found the love of his life Robyn at an early age. She was literally the girl next door and it was love at first sight for them both. By the age of 20, he married her and they have been by each other's side through many years and adventures together. Their love produced 3 amazing children and a continued legacy with 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He served his country in the Navy where he traveled the world and also got his training as a nuclear engineer. He proudly served for over 10 years retiring with honor. He liked to wear the ballcap of the aircraft carrier he served on the USS Eisenhower (almost daily). Outside of loving his wife and family and being proud of his military service, his great passion was to share the love of Jesus with others and to teach and share stories from the Bible. He served in ministry in many capacities throughout the years and was the founder/head pastor of Rivertree Church for a little over the last ten years. He is greatly missed by all those that know and love him and he has left a lasting legacy far beyond what we will know in this life. Jim is survived by his wife Robyn Gables, mother Leah Gables, Mother and Father in Law Betty Wood and Parcus Wood, daughter Michele Wyler (spouse Jeff Wyler and children BreAnna (spouse Evan White and children Barret and Hazel), Kaela and Braden Wyler), son Michael Gables (spouse Candice Gables and children Charity and Cameron Gables), son Matthew Gables. He is also survived by his siblings Janice Gables, Karen Rhea, and Kym Mosher (spouse Bob Mosher), and Chris Gables (spouse Dianna Gables) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins.

He was preceded in death by his Grandma (Freda) and Grandpa (Orville) Lemon and Grandma (Dolly) and Grandpa (Judge) Gables as well as Kermit Gables his Father. The visitation will be held from 6-8pm on 2/4/2025 at Lucas Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be at 10:30a on 2/5/2025 at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Internment will follow in DFW National Cemetery at 2:15p the same day (be there by 2p to be in line).
