Lindsey was born on August 11, 1944, to the late James Staley and Harris Watlington Garrison.
Lindsey worked in the petroleum pipeline industry for over 40 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sara J. Garrison; his three children: David Lindsey Garrison (Leslie), James Andrew Garrison and Melinda Ann Garrison Raines; he is also survived by his four siblings: Lynette McGaughey (Jim) of Graham, NC; Nathan Garrison of Ashville, NC; Rickard Yockey of Maryland; Margaret O'Brien (Terry) of Raleigh, NC as well as six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and brother-in-law, Edwin Yockey. He loved gardening, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. Lindsey touched the lives of many and will be missed by all.
The family will receive friends at McDonald and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 11:00AM-1:00PM. The funeral service will begin at 1:00PM, in the chapel of McDonald and Son. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Sawnee View Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of James. Also, the family would like to send their heartfelt thank you to the staff at Inspire Hospice for the loving and wonderful care they provided to Lindsey and his family during his final days.
