James Gill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory - Live Oak on Mar. 4, 2026.
James Chester Gill, age 80, passed away February 28, 2026, at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida. Born April 27, 1945, in Moosup, Connecticut to George Daniel Gill and Estelle Grocki Gill, he was a choir boy at All Hallows Church in Moosup. He was a graduate of Byant University and worked in the banking industry, serving on many charitable boards including March of Dimes and Easter Seals. Later in life his love for cars and circuit racing lead him to become a car manager and top salesman. His main passion in life was dog rescue, where he brought abandoned and sick dogs into his home and once well, transported them to reputable organizations for adoption. He enjoyed golfing, sailing, racing, motorcycle riding, and his companionship with Elks friends in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. Jim was a shining light in the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his fiancé, Susan, and his children and grandchildren.

Memorial service for Jim will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28th, 2026 at the First Methodist Church of Live Oak where he was a member and sang in the choir. A luncheon will be served after the service. In lieu of flowers, if you are so inclined, please send remembrances to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Doggie Dude Ranch in Live Oak, FL.

Please keep his family and friends in your prayers and take a moment to sign the online guestbook.
