Mr. James ''Bug'' Gilliard entered into eternal rest March 7, 2024 at the Iva Post Acute Center. James was born August 1, 1950 in Townville, SC to the late Lavonia Gilliard and to the late James P. Morris.
James was employed as a skillful cook for many area restaurants over the years. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church until his health declined.
James leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Tashka (Cecil) Banks of Elberton, GA, and Tamara D. Gilliard of Anderson, SC; sons, Patrick (Rocio) Johnson and Rondie Watson of Anderson, SC; 9 grandchildren; his siblings, Ruby (Doug) Lofton, Joe Morris, Dorothy Prater of Anderson, SC, David Gilliard, John Gilliard, Lucille Lewis of Townville, SC, Mary Ann Curry of Seneca, SC, Jerry Robinson of Brooklyn, NY, and Lula (Gilbert) Bemberry of Hampton, VA; companion and caregiver, Virginia Johnson; and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Doris Griffin Gilliard, sisters, Annette Corne and Lena Mae Smith, and brother, Alvn ''Hammer Head'' Gilliard.
Funeral service for James''Bug'' Gilliard will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Anderson, SC.
Public viewing will be Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Unity Mortuary of Anderson.
