Tylone Priestley Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 7, 2025.
Tylone Priestley, age 50, received his wings on Friday, October 3, 2025. He was born on May 18, 1975, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Kenneth B. Garrison and Renita Priestley.
At an early age, Tylone attended the New Haven, CT, school system while living with his favorite aunt, Marie Ellison, affectionately known to him as his Godmother. During his school years, he enjoyed playing football and exploring his passion for music by starting a rap career with his neighborhood friends.
After relocating to South Carolina, he graduated from Pendleton High School, Class of 1993, in the Anderson County School District. It was during this time that he discovered his love for barbering, which became his lifelong passion. Known affectionately as the "Neighborhood Barber" in the Boogie Woogie area, Tylone took great pride in his craft-especially in being his father's only barber.
In addition to barbering, Tylone dedicated many years of service to Milliken Co. and Sangamo, where he was a dedicated employee. He was a man of many talents and never afraid to try new things.
Tylone will be remembered as a loving father, brother, son, and friend with a heart of gold. He was deeply proud of his sons and cherished his family above all else.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hack and Janie Garrison; his grandparents, Nathaniel and Frankie Sybil Priestley; his uncle, Hack Garrison Jr.; and his special cousin/brother, Darrell Ellison.
Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, are his sons, Marquese Priestley (Hannah) of Pendleton, SC, and Tylone Malik Priestley of Cleveland, OH; siblings, Tininka Webb of Rock Hill, SC, Tequila Foster (David) of Pendleton, SC, Steven Priestley (Kesha) of West Haven, CT, Travis Epps (Crystal) of Rock Hill, SC, and Stephanie Priestley of New Haven, CT; Uncles, Galen Priestley of New Haven, CT, and James Thornton (Khary) of Atlanta GA; Special Aunt Marie Ellison of Hamden, CT and Aunt Mary Lois Stephens of Hamden, CT; two grandchildren; two special cousins, Yvonne Ellison Jones (Keith) and Claude June Ellison (Michelle), all of Hamden, CT; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
