James "Jim" H. Goers, of Steelville, MO, was born on Saturday, June 25, 1960 in St. Louis, MO to Junior Alvin Goers and Rose Marie Goers, nee Pinet. He passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from injuries from a motorcycle accident at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 2 days.
Jim graduated from high school in St. Louis, MO. He had accepted the Lord as his personal savior and had been a member of Lebanon Lodge #77 AF&AM and the United Auto Workers Union. Jim had lived in Midwest City, OK for 25 years until he met the love of his life, Debra Mae Carl who he married on February 10, 2005 in Eureka Springs, AR. He retired from General Motors after 30 years and then was a truck driver for USA and MSC for 10 years and had visited all of the United States, except for Hawaii. Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle, deer hunting, fishing and camping. He loved gardening and watching the deer in his yard. He would help anyone in need and though looked tough, his grandkids could turn him into a softy. Most of all, Jim loved his family and spending time with them. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Junior and Rose Goers and parents-in-law Marvin and Bernice Carl.
Jim is survived by his wife Debbie Goers of Steelville, MO; children James (Charlene) Goers of Oklahoma City, OK, Michael (Sandy) Goers of Shawnee, OK, JW (Jessica) Hanner of Steelville, MO and Douglas (Lindsey) Hanner of Nixa, MO; brothers-in-law Ron Carl, Leroy Carl and Roger (Vicki) Carl all of Steelville, MO; sister-in-law Beverly Dodson of Park Hills, MO; grandchildren Camren, Jeremiah, James, Kaylee, Paige, Dorian "Hot Rod", Madison, Rory and Greyson; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Jim's final ride was to Steelville Cemetery for his burial at Steelville Cemetery.
