Raleigh, NC: Mr. James Goodwyn “Jim” Barnhill, Jr., age 80, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC. Graveside Funeral Services will be 3:00PM, Friday, January 5, 2024 at Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church 164 Barbour’s Chapel Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524. Rev. Doug Humphrey will officiate.
Mr. Barnhill was born on August 17, 1943 in Windsor, NC to the late James Goodwyn Barnhill, Sr., and Evelyn Partin Barnhill. He was preceded in death by his sister, Reba Welfare. Mr. Barnhill was a retired accountant with the North Carolina State Government. Upon retirement in 1999, Jim received the Order of The Long Leaf Pine. He enjoyed tournament fishing, hunting, watching westerns, and computer games. Jim was also a great chef and will be remembered for his famous barbeque sauce.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anne Pollard Barnhill; daughters, Kathy Ahlmark and husband, Carl, Michelle Holder, and Jamie Vaughan and husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Brandon Ahlmark, Brianna Woodard, Lauryn Woodard, Morgan Woodard, Miranda Holder, Corbin Vaughan, Grant Vaughan, Jake Vaughan, Andrew Ahlmark, and Michael Ahlmark; great-grandchildren, Gage Ahlmark, Greysen Ahlmark, and Kennedy Ahlmark; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:45PM-2:45PM, Friday, January 5, 2024 prior to the graveside service at Rose & Graham Funeral Home 5820 US HWY 301 S., Four Oaks, NC 27524.
