James “Greg” Gregory Melancon, a resident of Sorrento, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the age of 70. Greg had a passion for music. He could play many instruments but really enjoyed playing bass guitar and singing. He also loved to be outdoors, especially fishing.
Greg is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Bonnie Babin Melancon; children, Cory Melancon (Amanda), Shawna Melancon, Heidi Melancon, Shane Melancon (Brooke), Jeremy Templet (fiancé, Dana Pruitt, Kara Leigh Templet, Quincy Templet (Cristy); 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Ronnie Melancon (Melissa), Sandra Templet, Terry Melancon (Gayle), Vanessa Melancon; in-laws, Mike Babin (Debbie), Mark Babin (Amy), Donnie Bourgeois (Donna), Jeff LeBlanc (Debbie); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Nora Melancon; daughter, Shelly Templet.
A service to celebrate Greg’s life will be held from 11am until 3pm on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at The Port Vincent Community Center.
