James Mike Griner, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Gray, Tennessee on June 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with multiple cancers.

Born in Nashville, Georgia, Mike was the beloved son of James Harvey Griner and Clarice Griner. He was the only son of an only son and grew up in Valdosta, Georgia, where he developed a strong sense of duty, loyalty, and love for his country.

Right after high school, Mike joined the United States Air Force, later continuing his distinguished military career in the United States Navy. He proudly served his God, country, and family, earning multiple honors, medals, and decorations for his dedicated and honorable service. Mike remained in the military nearly until retirement, a testament to his commitment and character.

Mike was known for his fun-loving spirit and generous heart. He loved fishing, playing poker and slots, shooting pool, and cheering on Georgia football – a true DAWG through and through. He was quick with a laugh, always ready to share a story, and lived his life with a sense of purpose and humor that endeared him to everyone he met.

Though he had no living blood relatives at the time of his passing, Mike was far from alone. He was surrounded throughout his life by a devoted extended family of close friends who loved him deeply and stood by him always. To know him was to admire and appreciate him. He left an impression that will never fade.

Mike Griner will live on in the hearts, minds, and joyful memories of all who had the privilege to know him.

A visitation of friends is scheduled from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Friday. August 1, 2025, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home.

A committal service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday August 1, 2025, at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in the Historic section. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet there no later than 1:50pm.

Sympathies and condolences may be shared with his extended family via www.morrisbaker.com.
