James A. Grove, age 78, of Guys Mills passed away Thursday morning October 2, 2025, in Crawford Care Center, Saegertown.

He was born in Meadville on October 22, 1946, a son of Andrew J. and Jean (Byham) Grove.

Jim was a 1964 graduate of Townville High School and served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years.

On July 14, 1973, Jim married the former Valerie Hamilton, she survives. He was employed as a mail carrier for Guys Mills Post Office for many years.

Jim enjoyed hunting, playing softball, and classic cars. He was a member of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation since 1984.

In addition to his wife of 52 years he is survived by two daughters, Bree Parker and her husband Gareth of Edinboro, Scotland, Brandi Oatis and her husband Keith of Monroe, CT; a sister Joyce Hein and her husband Ron of Duluth, MN; four grandchildren, Kylie, Devin, Finley, and Drake.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 9:30-11:00 AM in ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST, MEADVILLE. A Memorial Service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 5705 Grant Creek Rd., Missoula, MT 59808 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or Blooming Valley Volunteer Fire Dept., 15244 Mill St., Saegertown, PA 16433.
