Andrew James Kurt, Sr. (Andy), 78 of Meadville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 15, 2025, following a brief illness.
Andy was born in Meadville, PA on November 5, 1946, a son of Anthony and Helen (Zajac) Kurt. He was a 1964 graduate of Randolph High School where he was a standout athlete for football and basketball. He married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Mae Smith on November 7, 1964, she survives.
Andy was an active member of First Christian Church where he served on the church council and trustees for many years. He left a legacy of faith for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to follow. He retired from Meadville Forging where he worked for 33 years. Since then, he enjoyed working with his sons at their business and looked forward to the days he spent with them. Andy loved sports. He enjoyed playing softball in the Sertoma Slow Pitch league for many years. But his greatest joy was his family. He was a faithful attendant at all his grandchildren's sporting events, and he rarely missed one. They knew "Papa" would be there cheering them on.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Andy is survived by five children: Debbie Crowe (Ed), Lori Hollabaugh (Shawn), Andrew Kurt, Jr. (Lisa), Kevin Kurt (Tricia) and Linda Weaver (Jim).
He was "Papa" to 10 grandchildren, Joe Crowe (fiancée Alyson Raymond), Michelle Rodriguez, Kayla Mattocks (Tyler), Turner Kurt (fiancée Anna Norby), Natalie Kurt, Kyle Kurt, Hope Hollabaugh, Lindsey Weaver, Josh Weaver, and Rachael Weaver. He was also 'Great Grandpa" to four great grandchildren, Greyson Rodriguez, Jackson Rodriguez, Baker Mattocks and Boston Mattocks. Andy will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and his friends. He opened every family meal with a prayer and was always willing to help wherever needed. "Call dad" was a familiar phrase in his family whenever help was needed or just an ear to listen. He was always there.
Andy was proceeded in death by his parents.
