Robert Shryock Bailey, 80, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
He was born in Tennessee on March 16, 1945, the son of Robert M. and Elizabeth (Shryock) Bailey.
He was a 1963 graduate of Meadville High School. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in history from Indiana University of Bloomington, Indiana and participated in ROTC where he earned a deferment for law school and later earned his Juris Doctor degree at Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh where he graduated in 1970. After law school Bob went on active duty in the United States Army.
On January 29, 1967, Bob married the former Patricia Romey, she survives.
He was a partner in the Shafer Law Firm since 1992, retiring in 2015, he was assistant district attorney for Crawford County from 1976-1978, past president of the Crawford County bar association, served on the PBA Task Force on Lawyer Advertising, served as solicitor of the Crawford County Hospital Authority for many years, and served on the school board.
Bob served on the boards of the Crawford Heritage Foundation and The Salvation Army. He also took great joy as a swim meet referee for Meadville High School during the years his children competed. Bob enjoyed gardening and was passionate about cycling, taking many memorable bike trips over the years.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by three children, Gregory M. Bailey, DO of Pine Grove Mills, PA, Amanda B. Grantham, M.D. (Larry) of Manhattan Beach, CA, and Daniel S. Bailey of Meadville; two sisters, Barbara (Fred) Phillis, and Susan (David) Leveto; four grandchildren, Molly and Megan Bailey of New York City, Morgan Grantham of London, England, and Emma Gantham of Manhattan Beach, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no services. ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN ENTRUSTED TO ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
