Jeanne M. Johannesmeyer, age 99 and 3/4, of Erie, transitioned from this life peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Born in Meadville, Pa. on January 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Laughlin) Rice.
Jeanne was a graduate of Meadville High School. She worked for Marine Bank, and later as an interviewer for market research for 13 years. She was a card shark, especially golf (cards). She enjoyed taking bus trips with her friends, and rides around the peninsula. It was a good day when mom was "fit as a fiddle". She loved ice cream.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Johannesmeyer, and two brothers, Vincent and his wife Jean, and Bernard Rice and his wife Nancy.
She is survived by six children, Susan Grand, husband Bill, of Pittsburgh, Richard Johannesmeyer, wife Cindy, Vickie Pirrello, husband Bob, Lee Johannesmeyer, wife Maureen, Kevin Johannesmeyer, wife Sharon, all of Erie, and Lisa Chiffon, husband Scot, of Woodruff, S.C.; Ten grandchildren, Philip and Adrianne, Rick, Jon, and Lori, Scott and Ryan, Anthony, Nathan and Sarah; 13 great grandchildren, a great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd., on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., and may attend a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church 2401 W. 38th Street, on Saturday at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials in Jeanne's honor are suggested to the American Heart Association or Our Lady of Peace Church.
Jeanne's family wishes to thank the staff of the memory care unit at Sarah Reed Senior Living Center for their compassion and care; as well as the nurses at St. Vincent, 4 North.
