Merle D. Welton, age 82, of Meadville, passed away Thursday morning, October 30, 2025, in his residence.
He was born in Meadville on February 16. 1943, the son of Merle D., Sr. and Leveda (Heffner) Welton.
He was a 1961 graduate of Rocky Grove High School and served one term in the Army Reserves.
In 1966, Merle married the former Esther L. Moore, she passed away in 1990 and on April 6, 1991, he married the former B. Jane Knaul, she survives.
He was employed as a steelworker at Advanced Cast Products and was a member of Allida Smith Wesleyan Methodist Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, reading, and feeding the birds. The outdoors, and walking trails with his wife Jane
In addition to his wife of 34 years, he is survived by two children, Holly Grate and her husband Ben and David R. Welton and his wife Iva; three brothers, Donald Welton and his wife Betsy, Larry Welton, and Jerry Welton; three sisters, Karen Welton, Spring Welton, and Joy Welton; six grandchildren, Luke Welton, Rebecca Grate, Rachel Grate, Lorin Grate, Kirk Welton, and Clarabrook Welton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no services. ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN ENTRUSTED TO ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.
