James "Jim, Jimmy, Lil Bro" Gutchak, aged 80, of Standish, MI, passed away at home on May 1, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born on June 2, 1943, to the late Christopher Sr. and Evangeline (Tatro) Gutchak, James was a pillar of strength and humor within his family and community.
Jim met Marilyn McCullough, the love of his life, and they married on September 25, 1971, at St. Florian in Standish, Michigan. The happy couple was blessed with two children, Jamie Gutchak and Stephanie (Paul) Ruegsegger; his legacy continues to thrive through them and his six grandchildren, Ian, Hunter, Gage, Jakob, Davin, and Kale, and great-granddaughter, Sophia.
Jim was a loving brother to Elaine Groh, Elenore Kemp, Mary Ann Nechal, Jeanette Arquette, Janet Bissonette, Gloria Burns, and Theresa Helm. His siblings who preceded him in death, sister Clara Inloes, and brothers Henry, Chris Jr., and Don Gutchak now welcome him with open arms.
A graduate of Pinconning High School, Jim entered the workforce as a dedicated auto worker at Buick City in Flint, where he was known for his strong work ethic. Outside work, his passions included deer hunting, turkey hunting, fishing, and raising his chickens; activities that brought him immense joy and provided endless stories to share.
Jim's warm heart, quick wit, and the ability to lighten any moment with laughter, earned him the affectionate descriptors of being both loving and funny; traits that all who knew him can attest to.
He lived a life full of laughter, love, and adventure, touching the lives of many. Jim's presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the memories of his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2024, at 7:00 pm, at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Standish Chapel, with Pastor John Tousciuk presiding. Family and friends may visit at the chapel on Monday from 2:00 pm until the time of service.
