Fred L. Buzzell

Gladwin, Michigan

Fred L. Buzzell, a man of adventure and kindness, passed away on August 12, 2025, at the Gladwin Pine Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. Born on May 23, 1938, in Gladwin, Michigan, to the late Hugh and Alma (Rheinhardt) Buzzell, Fred's life was one marked by love, service, and the joy of exploration.

Fred's early years in Gladwin were shared with his siblings the late Ruby Briggs, the late Floyd Buzzell, Florence Burges, Susie Bilow, Francis Buzzell, the late Jim Buzzell, Nora Heath, Alice Taylor and 2 half-brothers Bob & Bill Councell. He was part of a unique beginning as one of the first sets of triplets born in Michigan, alongside his brothers Floyd and Francis. This remarkable start was a fitting prelude to the extraordinary life he would lead.

After serving his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960, Fred found love with Patricia Ann Gray. They married on August 27, 1960, in North Lake, Illinois, and embarked on a 57-year journey together, filled with mutual devotion and shared adventures until her passing in 2017.

Fred's family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his son, Robert Buzzell; his grandson, Jason Ross; and three great-grandchildren, DJ, Mersadie, and Mellia. His legacy continues through them, even as he is reunited in memory with his son David Allan Buzzell and grandson Daniel Ross, who preceded him in death.

Retiring to Gladwin, Fred's work history and association involvement were as diverse as his interests. He was a man who could fix anything, a handy talent that served him well in his travels. Fred and Patricia's shared passion for the open road saw them traversing the country in their RV and trailers, with memorable trips to Las Vegas and countless camping excursions. Riding motorcycles added an extra thrill to their adventures, embodying Fred's adventurous spirit.

Those who knew Fred would describe him as not just adventurous and handy, but also incredibly kind. His warm heart and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home-Gladwin Chapel, with Pastor Tony Reynolds presiding. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until the time of service.
