A memorial service for James "Lynn" Guy, age 79 of Lindale, Texas, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale, Texas with Pastor Tom Buck of Lindale First Baptist Church officiating.
Lynn went Home to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 8, 2025. He was born August 4, 1945, in Berkeley, California (liberal bastion that it was) to the late Joseph James and Edgelee (Abrams) Guy. The family moved to Texas (praise God!) when he was very young and they settled in Houston for his father's job. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1964. He joined the Navy and served on the USS Haynsworth during the Vietnam War era. After exiting the service, he entered the computer processing field at the then Bank of the Southwest in Houston. In 1973, he moved his family to Lindale to give them a better life and retired from Tyler Pipe in 2014.
Now to the important things - When he was 19, he met the love of his life, Amber/Cookie, on a blind date set up by his best friend, Jimmie Moulden. He and Cookie started talking marriage on their 2nd date and were married soon after. The only time Lynn was happier than when he was fishing was when he was spending time with his family. He was an assistant scout master and little league coach when James was of that age. Lynn was an absolutely devoted family man and a believer in Jesus Christ who knew where his ultimate home would be. His family takes comfort in the peaceful manner of his passing and knowing that he slipped straight into the arms of Jesus.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Amber "Cookie" Guy of Lindale; son, James Guy and wife Maria of Fate; daughter, Julie Lloyd and husband Les of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Stefen Lindorfer of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Melanie Bowman and husband Matthias of Houston; Justin Lloyd of Midland and his fianceé Madison Sund, Reagan Lloyd of Fort Worth; great-grandson, Benjamin Bowman of Houston; life-long best friend and chosen brother, Jimmie Moulden of Houston.
Lynn was the best husband, Dad/Daddy, and B-Pa, a compassionate man, loyal friend, and dependable neighbor. He will be missed greatly but we know we will see him again.
