James "Jim" Lawrence Halbach, 92, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Born on July 11, 1933, in Clinton, Iowa, to Lawrence and Bernice Halbach, Jim graduated from Clinton High School in 1951 and went on to the University of Iowa, where he earned his degree in 1955. While at Iowa, he was proud to serve as captain of the fencing team. Following graduation, Jim served his country in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 as a Military Police officer stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Jim built a distinguished career in the Agri-nutrition industry. In 1969, he co-founded Quali-Tech, Inc., where he led sales and marketing for 17 years. He later retired as Vice President and General Manager of ConAgra/DuPont in Willmar, Minnesota. On June 19, 1971, Jim married the love of his life, Carolyn Mueller. Together they made their home in Minnetonka, Minnesota, for 25 years before retiring to Bonita Springs in 1997. Jim and Carolyn shared a deep love for their family, world travel, and cheering on their beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn; his sister, Jean (Robert) Blossfeld; his daughters, Susan Halbach (Brett Buchholz) and Kate Pacyna (Mark); and his cherished grandchildren, Larson and Daniel Buchholz and Wyatt and Claire Pacyna. They will remember him for his sharp wit, love of sweets, appreciation for a good bargain, and his devotion to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, Florida. A private graveside service will take place in Iowa at a later date.
