James W. Hangey, age 82 of Polk Township, Kunkletown, PA passed away with his loving family at his side on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in
Allentown, PA.
James was the loving husband of RoseMarie (Falenchak) Hangey. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on February 6th.
He was born in Sellersville, PA on January 5, 1943, son of the late John and Mary (Knapp) Hangey.
James served our country with dedication and courage in the United States Navy on the USS Newport News during the Vietnam War.
James had worked as a Forklift Operator at Mack Trucks in
Allentown, PA for 35 years until retiring on June 1, 2003.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effort, PA. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 927 in
Gilbert, PA.
We have been blessed with the presence of James in our lives. He will be deeply missed by his wife: RoseMarie Hangey of Kunkletown, PA, his children: Lisa Gibson and spouse Gregory of Stroudsburg, PA, Susan Hittner and spouse Joseph of Palmerton, PA, Robert Knapp and spouse Lisa of Fernandina Beach, FL, Richard Knapp and spouse Kelly of Coopersburg, PA.
He was the loving grandfather to: Chris Knapp and spouse Jennifer, Andrea Heller and spouse Ron, Alex James Hartzel Knapp, Jennifer Knapp, Atalie Knapp-Lichniak, Alexis Hittner Bartholomew and fiancée James Gioia, Charissa Giblson and fiancée Martin Mehlig, Garhett Gibson and great grandchildren: Ty Knapp, Grant Manmiller, Chase Manmiller, Dylan Jason Bartholomew and fiancée Gianna Kintz, Matthew Joseph Bartholomew, Ava Rose Fischetti and Aubri Irene Duben.
James is also survived by two siblings: John L. Hangey of Arlington Heights, IL, Mary Lou Delp of Pottstown, PA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson: Jason R. Hittner, his siblings: David l. Hangey, Shirley Ann Maersch and Elizabeth Mae Shellenberger.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2025 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effort, PA.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 1:30 pm until time of service at the church.
A celebration dinner will be held immediately following the church service at the American Legion Post 927 in
Gilbert, PA with American Legion Honors.
James will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Veterans Cemetery in Annville, PA at a future date.
