James Harkness Obituary
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Shirley Ferris Harkness, sister Kathy Norris, son James Harkness, Jr. (Tracy), daughter Avalee Akers (Jim), and grandsons Chandler Stanton, Chase Stanton (Stephanie), James "Trey" Harkness III, Tyler Harkness and Tristan Harkness. James was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Harkness, and daughter Katrina Harkness.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow service. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.

Fond memories of spending time with the Harkness family. I will always be grateful for Mr. Harkness´s willingness to invite me to go to a race at MI Speedway. He was always so kind to our family. We will be covering your family in our prayers. Blessings! Scott Stewart
