James Monroe Harris, Jr., 66, of
Shadyside, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born on September 21, 1959 in
Martins Ferry, Ohio a son of the late James Monroe and Mary Ellen (Clouse) Harris, Sr.
Jim lived a life filled with dedication and passion. For 28 years, he devoted himself to his work in Electrical Maintenance at the Ohio Valley Medical Center. He loved his job and took great pride in ensuring that everything functioned smoothly, becoming a pillar of reliability within his workplace.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Jim was a man of diverse interests. A coin collector, he found joy in uncovering history through each unique piece he added to his collection. His love for computer games was matched only by his excitement for sports, especially when cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Yet, above all else, it was his family that brought him the greatest joy. Known affectionately as "Pappy Jim" to his cherished grandchildren, James was a source of wisdom, love, and laughter. His presence was a constant source of warmth and kindness, leaving a mark on the lives of those he held dear.
Jim was a member of the Shadyside Church of Christ, where he nurtured his spiritual journey and found comfort and community.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Julie Harris, Janet Kuhn; and father-in-law, Thomas Duncan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kim (Duncan) Harris; children, Lesley Harris, Amber (Anthony Ellison) Harris, Adam Harris; grandchildren, Bianca Harris, Tristan Harris, Esmeralda Harman; brother, Wayne Harris; mother-in-law, Charlotte Duncan; numerous nieces and nephews, especially Keith, Matt, and Hannah; several great nieces and nephews; and ex son-in-law, Chris Harman.
Though he has left this world, the legacy of James Monroe Harris, Jr. will continue to inspire those who knew him. His unwavering dedication, love for his family, and zest for life will be remembered and cherished always.
Family and friends are to received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 3900 Central Avenue,
Shadyside, Ohio on Monday, February 23, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. Additional visitation to take place on Tuesday, February 24, from 11:00am until time of service at 1:00pm with Pastor Jeffrey Kent officiating. Burial to follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
