Arthur D. Hanson, 92, of Shadyside, Ohio went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2026 at Liza's Place with his family by his side.

He was born on August 8, 1933, son of the late Arthur D. Hanson Sr., and Louise (Engelhardt) Hanson of Lansing, Ohio.

Art worked as a steel mill worker for 40 years at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. He was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio. He became a Catholic in his late eighties and was thankful for the guidance of Father Daniel Heusel. Art was a proud United States Navy Veteran, serving on the U.S.S Wisconsin battleship during the Korean War.

A true gentleman, Art always treated others with kindness and respect, making friends wherever he went. He was always honest in his dealings with others. Loving to laugh and joke, he could tell a good story. He had many hobbies including golfing, hunting, target shooting but most of all, bass fishing. He was a longtime member of the Marshall County Hunting and Fishing Club. After his retirement, he discovered a self taught talent for wood carving and artistic painting. His greatest love and enjoyment was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called him Pap. Art will be remembered by his family every day and live in their hearts forever.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Bertha whom he married on February 25, 1964, a son Louie Hanson and his sister Nancy Spears.

He is survived by his children, Mary (Phil) Richardson of Shadyside Ohio and Arthur (Theresa) Hanson Jr., of Bellaire Ohio along with four grandchildren Benjamin Hanson, Brittany (Anson) Core, Ryan Richardson, and Sean Hanson as well as eight great-grandchildren.

A family graveside service will be held at Powhatan Cemetery with full military honors.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, Ohio 43947.
