James Louis Harrison, 91, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He was born on April 30, 1934, in Pontotoc County, Mississippi.
James was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and spent most of his career as a hard-working owner and operator of service stations, pouring his skill and passion into his business.
He loved and admired his mother, Sinnie Harrison, who raised James and his sisters after his father's passing at a young age. Known for his handy nature, James was at his happiest when working his garden and using his tractor around his property. He was an avid NASCAR fan, but his most cherished time was supporting his boys' interest in motocross. James had the rare talent of being able to fix almost anything – a skill he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
James's legacy is celebrated through his family: three devoted sons James Phillip Harrison, Timothy Louis Harrison (Adrienne), and David Anthony Harrison (Janice); six cherished grandchildren Georgia Williams (Aaron), Jeremiah Harrison, Emily Katherine Harrison (Justin Miller), Brian Anthony Harrison, David Jacob Harrison (Kim Roberts), and Joshua Chase Harrison; and the joy of five great-grandchildren. His memory will be lovingly safeguarded in the stories they tell and the lessons he taught.
James was preceded in death by his parents, John William Harrison and Sinnie Elizabeth Scott Harrison, his sisters Mavis Taylor and Lynelle Todd, and his granddaughter-in-law, Sarena Harrison.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Bethel Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery. The family request that memorial donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 1011 CR 42, Etta, MS 38627. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
