He was born on April 23, 1956, in South Bend, to, Edward Heimbuch and Patricia (Stevens) Fritch.
James enjoyed watching golf, football and other sports. He was a huge Cubs and Notre Dame fan who enjoyed cooking, fishing, relaxing and watching the lake.
Surviving are his children, Nathan (Marcy) Heimbuch, Jamie McLalin and Katina Dove; brothers, Mark Heimbuch and Ed Heimbach; sister, Julie Riggs; grandchildren, Morgan McLalin, Alexa Burns, Christopher Brewster, Kaitlyn Dove and Josh Dove; great grandchildren, Vaeda, Camdyn, Noah, Elliot and Kenseley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cliff, Al, and Bruce Heimbuch.
Cremation will take place. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100, is caring for the arrangements.
