James Joseph Heying, 71, of Tiffin, IA, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM, Monday, August 25, 2025, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Coralville with Father Chuck Adam celebrating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass. Please join the family for refreshments following the service at the Bob White Pavillion at F.W. Kent Park (2048 US-6 NW, Oxford, IA 52322). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice.

James was born on May 17, 1954, in Decorah, IA, the son of Gregory and Helen (Winter) Heying. He received his Master in Arts with a degree in accounting from The University of Iowa. James was a CPA and business executive throughout his career. He was united in marriage to Junia Bideau on November 23, 1990.

James loved to call himself "Mr. Fix-It". He could always be found working on his computer or taking a trip to Lowe's. He loved to watch college wrestling, reminded him of when he wrestled at U of I. James was always finding ways to help others.

James is survived by his wife, Junia; four children, Matthew (Emma Swonson) Heying of Pheonix, AZ, Christine Heying (JT Anderson) of Tiffin, IA, Nikki (Gerald) Johnson of Iowa City and Nicholas Brathwaite of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands; seven siblings, Colleen Michels, Louis Hying, Dean Heying, Gail Heying, Karen Cook, Elaine Fay and Joe Heying; three grandchildren, JJ Desir, Jaydon Johnson, and Lexi Johnson; and many extended family.

James was preceded in death by his parents.
