James Allen Hinton (87), of Ashflat, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Eaglecrest Nursing Home..
He was born on August 22, 1938 in Cerro Gordo, Illinois to Leonard Hinton and Mabel (Heitz) Hinton.
James was known for his deep love for his Savior, having been a preacher, a pastor, a Christian school teacher and principal until retirement. He is no doubt now being reunited with some of those that he brought to Jesus.
James is survived by his wife, Paula (Farris) Hinton; they were married January 30, 1960 in Charleston, Illinois and recently celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary.. He also leaves a daughter, Pamela Horneck (Noel) of Hardy, AR and a son, Paul Hinton (Melissa) of Rantoul, IL. James was proud of his 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He loved his many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents (Leonard & Mabel Hinton) and his brother, William Hinton.
James was a devoted husband and father; he loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed his students, the jail ministry, and leading a senior citizen group in his church. James found great joy in his volunteer work with Boone County Emergency Management Agency in Belvidere, IL.
A celebration of life will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, Highland, AR on Monday, October 27; visitation is at 10:30 am followed by the service at 11:30. Burial will follow at Bronaugh Cemetery in Woodland Hills, AR.
The family wishes to thank James's caregivers at Eaglecrest Nursing Home in Ashflat, AR over the last 2 1/2 years.
