James Alvin Hobbs of Hickory, Kentucky, was born October 17, 1952, in Mayfield, Kentucky, to his loving parents the late Willie C. "Bill" Hobbs and the late Maggie Irene Arnold Hobbs. He left this earthly existence on November 23, 2024. At the time of his passing, he had reached the age of 72 years, 1 month, and 6 days.
James was of the Christian faith and was a former member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hickory, Kentucky.
He graduated from Symsonia High School and later studied architecture at West Kentucky Vocational Technical School. Along with drawing and architecture, James loved working on cars, especially building them.
James was known to both friends and family as a very kind, generous person who loved his family and did whatever he could for them.
Preceding him in death were His Parents, Willie and Maggie Hobbs; One Brother, Sylvester Hobbs; One Sister, Bonnie Sue Fields; One Brother-In-Law, Dwayne Valentine; His Paternal Grandparents, Charlie Hobbs and Dolle D. Whittemore Hobbs; His maternal grandparents, Reverend Alvertis Arnold and Elizabeth Luton Arnold; and One Sister-in-law, Patsy Hobbs.
Left behind to cherish sweet memories of him are: Two Brothers, Willie (Tracy) Hobbs of Rochester, New York, and Curtis Denver (Mary) Hobbs of Hickory, Kentucky; One Sister, Elizabeth Darlene Valentine; One Brother-in-law, Mark Fields of Paducah, Kentucky; Ten Nieces, Ashley Poole and Erica Larkins, both of Rochester, New York, Michele Wedley and Katrice Wedley, and Megan (Anthony) Morris, all of Mayfield, Kentucky, Amanda Valentine, Cherise Hughes, both of Charlotte, North Carolina, Irene (Randy) Patterson of Richmond, Virginia, Cynthia (Douglas) Smith and Jennifer Hobbs, both of Rochester, New York; Three Nephews, Mark Dewayne Fields of Paducah, Kentucky, Jeremy (Gernise) Hughes and Ricky (Annette) Hobbs, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a Host of Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Family and Friends.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, 12 noon, at Shelton Cemetery, 2614 State Route 408E, Boaz, KY. Minister Antonio Sherrill will officiate.
