James F. "Jim" Hodkinson

James F. "Jim" Hodkinson, age 75, of Dalton, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at his residence, following a period of declining health.
James was born on November 20, 1948, in Dennison, Ohio, to the late Robert and Mary (Davis) Hodkinson. He graduated from Midvale with the class of 1966, and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Annette Chirdon on September 16, 200l. They were married for 22 wonderful years.
He worked for Wenger Excavating for over 20 years and retired from Santmyer Oil in 2013 where he worked as a Transportation Safety Officer.
Jim was a kind and generous man who loved his family. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed the simple things in life like watching football games, playing golf, working in his yard and attending his son's sporting events.
In addition to his wife, Annette, surviving are two sons, Keith (Kathy) Hodkinson of Wooster and Evan (Zoe Ntia) Hodkinson of Dalton; two siblings, Larry (Peggy) Hodkinson of Merrimack, NH, and Wayne Hodkinson of New Philadelphia; brother-in-law, Bill (Gen) Chirdon of Hummelstown, PA; three sisters-in-law, Connie (Mark) Poulton of Dalton, Liz (Tim) Carr of Uniontown, and Mary (Scott) Richardson of Massillon; mother-in-law, Louise Chirdon of Dalton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and father-in-law, Ed Chirdon.
Friends may call on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 10:30 am to 11:15 am.
Services will be held at 11:30 am on August 23, 2024, at the funeral home, with Pastor Timothy Hull officiating. Burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at 1:15 pm., where military rites will be observed.
