James Holmes Obituary

James was born in Wayne County on August 1, 1932 to the late Lee Stephen Holmes and Selma Moye Holmes. He retired as the Criminal Justice Coordinator from North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
James is survived by his children, Michael Holmes and wife, Beth, Ronald Parrish and wife, Faye, Douglas Parrish, Jacqueline Howell, Darrell Pennington and wife Catherine, and Tyla Aycock and husband Stephen; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Johnnie Maher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Parrish Holmes; daughters, Cynthia Warters and Rita Daniels; and brothers, Lee Holmes and Durwood Holmes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
