James Darwin Huff

James Darwin Huff age 83 of the Homochitto community passed away on February 21, 2026. He was born October 28, 1942, to Alcus and Mozel Huff in Coles, Ms.

Darwin retired as a technician from Att. In his retirement he had a list of things that he was involved in. He served on numerous boards and was president of Pine Hills Academy board for many years. He loved to coach all sports, especially his daughter Heather in softball. He owned L and H feed in Meadville for 13 years; he raised cattle and loved baling hay and growing a garden. He was a member of Royal Chapel Church. He was a server of the community and often referred to as the mayor of Homochitto. Although his pride and joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Darwin is survived by his wife Wanda, his children; Jeff Huff, Chad Huff, Heather Carter and husband Will, and Jason Ballard and wife Scarlet. His grandchildren; Nathan James Carter, Henry Carter, Felicity Ballard, and Olivia Ballard. His sister Dorothy Huff Flemming and husband Mac, and his brother Virgil Huff and wife Terri. And many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Darryl Huff.

Funeral arrangements are visiting Tuesday February 24, 2026, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, Ms. Visiting will continue Wednesday February 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Services at 11 a.m. at Royal Chapel Church. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mike Fleming, Shane Fleming, Paul Huff, Bryce Teel, Nick Teel, and James Teel Jr.
