James "Chip" F. Hull Jr., age 71 of East McKeesport, went to be with the Lord, his infant son, and family on Friday, August 8, 2025. He was born October 20, 1953 in McKeesport, a son of the late James F. and Alice (Jones) Hull. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Plum Borough. Chip attended McKeesport area schools, played Little League baseball and was part of a championship team with Jaycox Funeral Home. He was a member of the McKeesport Little Theater in high school where he met his eternal love when he played her grandfather in The Five Little Peppers. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Chip enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1971 where he became a dental assistant and was honorably discharged in 1975. He returned home with his family and worked in the blast furnace at U.S. Steel Duquesne Works, the blast furnace his great-grandfather helped to build. In 1980, he returned to school and received his degree and became a Physician's Assistant and then was certified later that year. He had a long career where he worked in the federal prison system, and in the fields of occupational health, psychiatric health, emergency medicine, and family practice, which was his favorite. He was loved by his patients, especially children. He then went into educating future Physician's Assistants as an Assistant Professor. At the time of his retirement, he was the founding Director of the Physician's Assistant Program at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son James F. Hull III; sisters Mona Hull and Cheryl Ann Hull; and brothers-in-law Gary Baldwin and Jack Spell. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Martina "Tina" (Estochin) Hull; children Tracey (Tim) Hotham of Easley, South Carolina and James E. (Jennifer) Hull of West Lawn, Pennsylvania; beloved grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Ethan Hull, Aimee (George) Hegedus, Alicen Hull and David Ray-Hull; and sister Cynthia "Punkin" Baldwin of Munhall, sister-in-law Edith Spell of West Mifflin, brother-in-law George (Mary) Estochin of Melcroft, and Randa Ray, mother of his grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of sharing jokes and laughter with their Uncle Chip. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday August 12th at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. Chip requested that everyone wear their finest Black and Gold attire. Everyone will gather at the funeral home for a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 13th. Interment with military honors will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon Township. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org, or Suite 300, 4899 Belfort Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
