James "Jim" C. Humphries, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on November 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born October 22, 1942, he was the son of the late William E. and Eunice E. Wilson Humphries, and husband of Sandra Faye Holland Humphries.
He was employed by Carolina Cash Co. for 30 years and the Spartanburg Herald-Journal and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He stayed busy during his retirement proudly serving as a bailiff for the Spartanburg County Courthouse. Jim enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop building clocks, bread boxes, and rocking horses, watching every western ever made on television, and making his famous peanut brittle for family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by son, James Todd Humphries (and wife, Kanha); daughter, Kelly L. Thornton (and husband, Joel); sisters, Florence Frings and Kay Alexander; brother, Jerry Humphries; and granddaughter, Bella Humphries.
A graveside service, conducted by Pastor Keith Davis, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC, 29307.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
