James "Jim" Hunter

March 12, 1939 – June 8, 2025

James "Jim" Hunter passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 86. Born on March 12, 1939, in Sage, Arkansas, he was the son of Inez Rose and Gainor Hunter.

Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1978, dedicating 20 years to his country. He was self-employed at Colville Appliance Repair from 1981 to 1996.

On July 3, 1965, Jim married the love of his life, Jacklyn "Jackie" Hunter, in Spokane, Washington. Together they raised a family and shared nearly 60 years of marriage.

He was an active member of the Church of Christ and known for his love of reading, watching movies, traveling, and savoring great food. A master of the grill, Jim's barbecues were legendary. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Jim lived in several places over the years, including Spokane, Colville, and Lacey, Washington, as well as in Michigan. He and Jackie made their home in Lacey and Rainier for the past 17 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie Hunter of Rainier, WA; his children: Matthew James Hunter of Spokane, WA; Chester Reed (Kathy) Hunter of Dupont, WA; and Sara Jane (Brian) Snyder of Rainier, WA. He is also survived by his sisters Johnnie Gail Luttrell of Missouri and Pally Jean Hidalgo of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his sisters Martha Dotzler and his beloved granddaughter Rachel Lynn Hunter (2023).

A celebration of Jim's life will be held with a family and friends gathering for the scattering of his ashes on July 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at 22009 N. Meadowview Drive, Colbert, WA 99005.
