James Roy Hurn, 87, of Rogersville passed away Thursday July 17, 2025, peacefully at home. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local #477. He worked at Reynolds Metals Company for 25 years from 1962 to 1987. He was an Army Veteran and was in the Army Reserves at the 81st Wildcat Division in Lawrenceburg Tennessee. James was also a member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
James is survived by his daughters, Beverly Hurn Henderson, Tammy Brown (Mark), grandchildren, Callie Holcombe (Jim), Julia Henderson (Ryan Zalewski), Luke Brown, Kimberly Brown and Matthew Brown, great-grandchildren, Mina Holcombe and Rebekah Holcombe. Mr. Hurn was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Wanda Butler Hurn, his parents, Raymon and Bessie Hurn, brothers Arlis Hurn, Tonis Hurn, and Gerald David Hurn, two sisters, Louella Powell and Cleo Boyd, and his granddaughter, Melania Jill Brown.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health, Hospice of North Alabama, Doctor David Brown and Doctor Felix Morris for their excellent care and compassion for our father.
Visitation will be held at the Elkins East Chapel in Killen on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 2pm-3pm. Services will follow in the chapel and will begin at 3pm. Jonathan Henderson is to officiate. Burial will immediately follow services at Barnett Cemetery in Lexington.
