James Hyde Obituary
James married Ms. Bettye Pearl Norris on July 1, 1953 and they were blessed with 3 sons, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was affectionately known by his grands as Granddaddy, Kissy Pawpaw, and Pop. To his many friends he was known as Buddy or Baby Lucci.
He was a native of Cordova, Alabama and moved to Gadsden in 1971, where he spent 51 years. He enjoyed watching Alabama football, bird watching, and fishing. He loved his Buick and spending time with his family, and he never met a stranger.
Mr. Hyde is preceded in death by his loving wife Bettye Pearl Norris Hyde; father James Emory Hyde; mother Lilly Gilbert Hyde, sisters Jane Koontz and Ann Shultz; grandson Paul Hyde; and great-granddaughter Lilly Ann Goodwin.
He is survived by his 3 sons James N. Hyde & wife Karen, Lonnie N. Hyde & wife Kelly, and Jeffrey D. Hyde & wife B. J.; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services: Visitation will be held Monday May 15, 2023, at 9:00 AM in the Sam Hood Memorial Chapel of Freeman Hood Funeral Services, with funeral services following at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at New Prospect Cemetery. Chance Goodwin will officiate.
The family would like to thank the nurses and caretakers of Ridgeview Healthcare for the love and care they provided for James.
