James “Jimmy” Arlin Ivey, 66, of Colonial Heights passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025. Born in Petersburg, Virginia on September 18, 1958, he was the son of Alice Faye Crumpler and the late Arlin Ivey, Jr. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Russell.
Jimmy was the longtime owner of Jerry’s Auto Electric, where he spent over 30 years building a reputation for being dependable.
He was a member of American Legion Post 2 in Petersburg and appreciated the time he spent with veterans and other members there.
Jimmy enjoyed being out on the river and spending time on the boat. It was one of his favorite ways to relax and unwind. He also loved playing his guitar, especially country music, which he often played just for the joy of it.
More than anything, Jimmy valued time with his family and friends and those were the moments he held closest.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Stephanie Lynn Ivey; four children, James Ivey and wife, Tiffany, Madlina Ivey, Madison Ivey, Makayla Ivey; two grandchildren, Payton and Colton Ivey; other extended family members and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be private. The family will recieve friends Tuesday evening, July 8, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
